Founder. Addison Henderson has a background in acting and filmmaking . He began formal training as an actor at the prestigious HB Studios in New York City, and while studying, he appeared in plays such as "Career," "Private Ear," "Hatful of Rain" and "Not Until We're Married," the latter was performed at the celebrated Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C.
While in New York pursuing acting, Addison worked as Marketing and Production Coordinator at The Film Life, Inc., presenter of the Black Movie Awards, broadcast annually on TNT, under the tutelage of President Jeff Friday. There Addison gained knowledge of the business aspects of the film industry and the inter-workings of a film company.
After relocating to Los Angeles , California, in August of 2003, Addison continued to hone his acting skills and studied with noted acting coach Tom Todoroff. While in L.A. he interned with Eriq LaSalle's Humble Journey Films, gaining more exposure to the business aspect of filmmaking and further expanding his skill set.
It was during this time that he also tried his hand at directing. Addison's experience as a director began with the stage; notably he directed "Blood Knot", a two man play about South African brothers, in which he also starred. In order to prepare himself for film directing, he worked closely with USC film students and in 2005 Addison formed his own production company, Knuckle City Films. It was then that he stepped behind the camera to direct his first film "A Step Away from a Note" in which he also played title role. Since founding Knuckle City Films Addison has written, produced and directed 3 more short films, "Under Pressure", "Exit 14" and "War at Home". He also completed "The Harvest of a Continent," a documentary shot in Ghana, West Africa .
The project, however, receiving the most critical acclaim, is "The Forgotten City," a film which Addison co-directed and produced. "The Forgotten City " is Addison's most personal work to date as the film concept was motivated by a personal tragedy. Through telling this heartfelt story about urban America , Addison has motivated and touched many. He is frequently asked to speak to inner city youth and college students about issues facing young people and the film industry.
